I finally got a little bit further ahead after talking with Direcway. It wasn't pretty, but we finally made some progress. :argue1:

Here is a website that was recommended but I have no idea what all it is talking about. I have been reading but my eyes are crossed and my vision is blurred and my brain is feeling like that egg when you are on drugs! From what I have seen of the forum it is kind of punky and rude.

http://www.speedguide.net

I was hoping maybe someone with some time and patience could maybe check this site out for me and walk me through what I need to do in order to make my upload work. I am told that this uplaod issue is a common problem with VPN and effidently that is what Direcway is. These Registry Tweaks are suppose to help. I am running ME. I clicked on the SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer and this is what came up - I don't know if this will help but here it is:

SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer WRONG IP ADDRESS!!!!TCP properties for IP = 66.82.9.37 (dpc6682009037.direcpc.com)
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; Win 9x 4.90)
Note: Read the FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405b4

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 65535
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 65535
Note: Under Windows 9x, if you have RWIN set to any other value, and the Analyzer reports 65535 you might need to install the MS Vtcp386 fix.
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2621.4 kbps (327.675 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1048.56 kbps (131.07 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 120 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = OFF

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

6261458 connections tested since 03.10.2001.

Analyzer version: 1.02 - updated 09.20.2002.

I don't know if this is Generic or if this is my TCP/IP or what??? I don't really know exactly what TCP/IP stands for, but I believe it has to do with your connection settings. I may be ignorant but I am willing to learn....

I am really anxious about messing with the registry... but I would really like to fix this upload issue.

O.K. THAT IS NOT MY ISP ADDRESS!!!

I am on the site now and I have unchecked the Use a Proxy Server for your LAN Connections like it said to and it still comes up with the wrong IP address plus I couldn't get the Right Stuff page to come up that way so I changed it back and now here I am!

I guess no one wants to take this task on and I can't say as I blame you...

I had another session with DirecWay yesterday. I couldn't connect at all and my signal strength was bouncing around like crazy trying to lock onto a frequency (I guess) Anyways, after practically rebuilding my computer and talking with 4 tech reps I got one that decided to try and change my frequency and polarization - It worked!!! I had to wait until today so that the main station could accept the changes before I could get online. This fellow was really nice and I asked him about making these registry changes and he said "NO" I shouldn't do it! Does anyone reading this know anything about this stuff and if it is something that would help the system or is it something to stay away from? I kind of feel like if it isn't broke I shouldn't try and fix it! It is working now and I would like to keep it that way! I even loaded my entire website today with no disconnects!!! :guitar:

Also, I learned from the Advanced Tech Guy this morning I had to talk to in order to make the changes back East that if you have a radar detector in your car even if the car is not on and the radar detector is not on - it can screw up your system and make it act like mine was!!! You have to unplug it from the cigarette lighter and then you are safe.

Just so happens we have someone staying here now that has one.... He just started staying here a couple nights ago.... Not sure if that is what caused it but he has agreed to unplug it when he gets close to home! Man, talk about touchy.... All these different waves and frequencies are kind of scarey!!!

Well, I hope you guys aren't mad at me for asking so much but I was desperant! You have all been such a great help and support I would hate to loose that! :kitty:

Fooling around in your Registry file can be dangerous. One wrong move and your puter won't work. For that reason, most people are hesitant to advise anyone on Registry issues. I do use McAfee or Norton to automatically fix Registry problems. The only time I manually changed anything was when I followed step-by-step instructions from the Microsoft web site.

That is very understandable!!! I wouldn't want to put myself in that position either!!! I was thinking that the Patches would be safe enough though, but it is still pretty scarey to me and I am thinking I should just leave well enough alone.

Remember I told you I couldn't get my CD Burner to work? Well, I went to Costco today to get some zip diskettes to backup my files and met a gentleman in the isle and started asking him questions about the CD burner and told him I had gotten RW CD's and asked him if that could be the problem and he said it sure could because you have to format them first. So I bought the regular CD-R's - I hope they work!!! I will feel ALOT better if I get things backed up on a hard copy!

When you burn your site files, do you just get a bunch of files or can you see your actual site? That might sound like a really stupid question but I have these blank spots ya know......

I (ashamed that I did) ducked the question because as Fred said, without being there we could between us totally b***er up your computer (that's a tech term oh yes it is...) Normal CD-R's will work, I not sure on this formatting thing that sounds like "I don't know, so I try baffle you" rubbish salesman speak.

But anyway...your back up files should/will be the same as the original's, clicking on the index/home page on your newly copied CD will bring up your site just as it does online. If you get any problem's I'll try promise not to be such a scardy cat to answer if you promise me back you won't go in your registry......

Hi Sweet, I was trying to figure out where Windows kept all the passwords, but the guys said "WARNING Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid."

Let's see, I know about:

Lama Registry
Wedding Registry
Organized Crime Registry
Motor Vehicles Registry
Mutual-Consent Registry
Road Block Registry
Official Commitment Ceremony Registry
Chocolate Registry
Stolen Computers Registry
The International Hedgehog Registry
Married Man Registry
But that's just about it. This probably has nothing to do with what you want but how about, http://www.winguides.com/registry/

I think I'll start hanging out at Costco more.

I am sooooo HAPPY you guys are talking to me again!!!

Don't worry about ducking the question Shane, it was alot to ask.... My system is running really good right now. Since we changed the frequency and polarization of the antenna settings I haven't had any problem at all with my FTP program!!!! I am going to email Direcway and compliment the Tech person that helped me FINALLY!!!! (I am keeping names.....)

And yes, the CD-R's worked fine!!! What the heck am I going to do with 20 CD-RW's now??? I was going to buy a Frisby for my dogs - maybe.....

Fuhgedaboutit - Wow, you know alot of registries!!! Thanks for the url, I bookmarked it!

There are worse places to hang out I guess than Costco.... I can think of some better though....

Oh yeah, I promise to stay out of my registry Shane! Thanks....
