It's MARDI GRAS IN NEW ORLEANS!
Being that I live in the New Orleans area, I will give you some information about what has been called "the world's largest free show". There are 38 parades in the area between now and Tuesday. I will go to none. My last parade was 40 years ago.
Haydel's Bakery sends over 30,000 King Cakes via FedEx. Popeyes alone sells 2.5 million pieces of fried chicken, 1.5 million biscuits and 1.2 million red beans and rice in the final 12 days of carnival.
A friend of mine has a daughter who was a Maid of Honor in one of last year's parades. He spent $25,000. Her gown cost $15,000. All I can say is "Ain't no way!"
The way they determine the crowd size on Mardi Gras is by the amount of litter left in the streets on Ash Wednesday. Believe me, there are tons of trash. The closest I will get to a parade will be if I watch one on TV if I'm not
