I have noticed a few times a night that my site goes down for about 5-10 minutes at a time and at that same time I can't send or receive email through outlook or get to this forum, but I can get everywhere else and send email through AOL with no problem. Do you know what causes that?
Thanks,
Nikki

I've noticed it too, only 2-3 times.

It is not the server, it is still the internet mess going on. Here is a report I just now got on the server we are all on:
10:14pm up 63 days, 8:30, 1 user, load average: 0.40, 0.45, 0.35
(more blah blah stuff.... then the server is running beautifully.)
CNN was reporting today that there was a lot of problems with the Internet since Monday - hackers and traffic.
This is what the server shows now - Check the Server Status in your CPanel if you have troubles
Server Status
apache (1.3.26 (Unix)) up
bind (9.2.1) up
exim (exim-3.36-21_cpanel_antivirus) up
mysql (3.23.53a) up
proftpd (1.2.4) up
syslogd up
webmail up
imap up
interchange up
Server Load 0.68 (1 cpu)
Memory Used 34.2 %
Swap 0.923 %
Disk hde3 (/) 68 %
Disk hde1 (/boot) 7 %
I'm thinking that whatever this problem is, it's linked to me not being able to access cpanels and webmail, too. It doesn't make any sense that one minute it works and the next it doesn't, without SOME sort of underlying problem somewhere.

When this stuff first started happening, I thought it was rediculous to
consider that someone/thing could hack the massive internet.
I still can't really wrap my mind around it... but I see reports on TV and
other sources that it is indeed happening... that sites can become
temporarily inaccessible, yet they are not really offline. There seems to
be no pattern for which/where sites will be touched by it or when/how
long.
Usually there are tens of thousands of things that need to work correctly
enroute to almost any given site. No one has control over all of them, so
we look first where we do feel we have some control, the server.
While all servers "have their moments" from time to time like anything
else, it is only a tiny part of this humongus internet system and seldom
the real culprit we tend to think it is when anything goes wrong.
This is not a cop-out. It is a real situation beyond our control and so far,
the server is doing everything it is supposed to do. If not, we will tell you
the truth about that as soon as we know about it.
We're not perfect... not even close.... but we ALWAYS appreciate your
informing us if you are having an access problem and will ALWAYS do
our very best to resolve it for you as quickly as possible.

Helen,
This is more likely a "cache" thing. Where ISP's sweep the net, say every hour (its suprisingly easy to do) And this is down to each individual isp. In practice it means each isp user sees the same thing for an hour or two, not the live internet........then, shock, it suddendly updates.
Peeps ask your isp's about this............they'll go quiet

Ah! Hershey's Chocolate Candy Kisses.
Do you know I have an addiction to them? It's bad. A few years ago, I was buying a big bag of them, ate 1/2 bag daily. I'd plop one in my mouth at bedtime and the first thing in the morning.
I cannot buy them, even though I love 'em. The addiction would start all over. I actually look at 'em in the store and have to tell myself, "NO!"
My problem is I tell myself NO!!! :hkiss: but I never listen to advice or so my wife tells me.
