By popular demand (okay, a couple of you asked and everyone else can blame them  ), Watson has a web page. http://users.bignet.net/~hconnors/Connors/Watson.html

Priceless, Harry & well done to you for going to a shelter...He looks a fine chap. I'm glad he found a kind home.... :D

He looks very happy, high 5 to you for that. Dogs are rewarding animals. Trouble :D lol is (& we know its no trouble) once you invite one into your home, they cease to become a dog and become part of the family, with their own personality etc, welcome, Watson to Harrys extended family too....you are a lucky guy, Watson. (but I'm guessing you already know that

Harry he can read, yeah ? :D :D

The stairs thing was funny. I had a German Sheperd for 12 years, he was a working dog but as you probably know they go home with their handlers at the end of a shift. He could do this/that at work, a scary guy when he or I needed him to be. Everything was cool till I moved house. The new place had a spiral staircase.........the staircase became his arch enemy, he'd growl at it, keep one eye on it at all times (why I dunno...in case it moved ?) & bite it when I went out. It had wooden steps, I varnished them after a while to match the room & to him that was defeating the enemy. Problem solved.

Have fun Harry & Watson.

Neat looking dog Harry. My dogs are 8 now and still act like puppies. They are great!

Your pic " it squiks?" is classic!!

Thanks everyone. He is a neat dog. We are lucky to have him.

He's our third adoption from a shelter. We've really had good luck with shelter dogs. There are so many that it isn't difficult to find one with a great personality. I think that's the key. At a year or two they may not be house trained, but that's an easy job at that age (Watson trained very easily). We both work so a true puppy isn't something we can deal with.

People who have never had a pet do not know how quickly they become part of the family. They can't understand all the hoopla. My sister is that way. They don't know what the're missing. Your page makes me want to create a page for each of our cats because they are all different. One of these days......

Dogs benefit us in so many ways that I sometimes find it difficult to understand those who don't like dogs, too. Dogs are the best burglar alarm (and burglar deterent). Dogs teach children responsibility and caring. Recent research even suggests that they may help prevent alergies and asthma. This is over and above the simple joys of loving a creature who returns that love uncritically and unstintingly.

When we were expecting our oldest we announced the happy news at a family gathering. Later, the sister-in-law that nobody liked took me aside and explained that, of course, when the baby was born we'd have to get rid of the dog. To my everlasting discredit (but it was fun  ), I responded that we didn't expect problems but "if there are any, you know, we'll have had the dog for longer..." Needless to say, there were no problems. The dog (a long dead collie/shepherd mix) was a wonderful "auntie" to our kids and was a member of the family for far longer than that real aunt.
