A rabbi with a wife and seven children moved to a new city. He and his
wife decided not to buy a house right away, hoping to rent a tonwhouse
until they could get a feel for the area and choose a home in a good school
district. They found plenty of rental townhouses that were large enough,
but the landlords always objected to having a family of nine occupants.

One day, the rabbi instructed his wife to take the four youngest children
to visit the local cemetery. He then took their three oldest children and
headed off to look at another townhouse. The place was perfect, and the
rabbi told the landlord he would take it. Along with the usual questions,
the landlord politely inquired how many children the rabbi had.

The rabbi gave a long sigh and said, "Seven. But four are with their dear
mother in the cemetery."

He got the townhouse.
