Well, it took me a while... but I am finally here! Cool board!

My site is almost a year old, so I should renew the registration. What is a fair price to pay, and where should I go?

thanks,
RB

Ck Google - You can find places to register for $8.95 /year.

I use these guys

http://www.000domains.com/

It has never taken more than 6 hours for changes to take affect and the site management tools are worth the extra dollars to me. they are $13.50 a year.

Hi Flash,

One thing I do not fully understand is... can I renew my domain name with anyone, or do I have to do it through who I am hosted on? In my instance, I am with Right Stuff...

Thanks,

RB

Hi rbce, welcome

Name registration is not connected to your hosts, altho some hosts provide the service. Name reg. is like a car registration, a big data bank is holding all the important info about your domain name. Anyone can renew the registration for you, verisign, nicname, whoever. It has become competitive and there are resellers everywhere. Used to be a fairly standard $35/yr. The biggy, whose name escapes me, used to be difficult to use, difficult to change and expensive. Competition has spawned a better breed of name registars. Pick one you think will be easy to use.

I had three domains with 000Domains. Those were $13.50 per year. I ended up moving them to http://godaddy.com

So far, I am completely satisfied with Go Daddy - especially since the rate with GoDaddy is $8.95/yr.

Another domain question.

Can I buy more than 1 domain to be hosted by my hosts?

Jan - We have people here hosted with us who have 10 domains with us. I have 4 with GoDaddy and they are all hosted here.

Hi RB,

I use godaddy too. I just saw that they have "Private Registration" (costs more) which stops people from seeing your info. (Name, address, phone # etc.)

Yeah I saw that too...they 'cloak' you.

The UK is pushing for all trade addressess to be published via 'whois', in fact thats a lie, it will become law here soon. For trade only. Trade domain business addresses will be public. You can opt out (and its you who must take the action if you want to, & only if its a private..i.e..not a business domain) if you want to. Contact http://www.nominet.org.uk They take 5 weeks to answer the phone & don't know their a**se from their elbow...but they got da power.

Me ?.......belguim domains and Italian Coffee where its at........
