I'm going crazy here...is there any way to remove the built in sounds that come in the flash buttons in Dreamweaver? If there is, I can't find it! Help? Help! :roll:

Sorry to butt in here, but gotta tell you, Joe....
fastcycles.com is a tremendous website! It opens quickly and even the
photo gallery loads faster than most sites I visit. Oh, yeah, one more
thing...
:cool: mouseovers!! :D

Only way that I can see is to import the swf into a new flash file library, then open the swf from there and edit the sound out. I Haven't tested this. Hopefully, Shane will find an easier way. If you get stuck, upload the swf button and give a link.

Thanks Helen...my first try in Dreamweaver and to be honest, I'm really frustrated with it. I know what I want, but there ain't no way I can do it.
But, thank heavens, it's only a temp site until Shane gets his mittens on it.
Flash...Ok...hmm...I knew I wasn't nuts. Guess I'll have to find...dare I say it...a workaround? *gasp* Shhh...I won't tell if you won't :roll:
On edit: Richard, if you want to take a look, it's the buttons at fastcycles...my brother likes the look, but hates the sound...and I have no clue how to import/export and edit the darn things...

This is the code that each button uses:
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=5,0,0,0" width="147" height="34">
<param name="BGCOLOR" value="#990000">
<param name="movie" value="button3.swf">
<param name="base" value=".">
<param name="SCALE" value="noborder">
<param name="QUALITY" value="high">
<embed src="button3.swf" width="147" height="34" scale="noborder" base="." quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" bgcolor="#990000" ></embed>
</object>
No where the heck does the sound come from? :confused:

Hey Joe,
How's the Bro' doing, if he's complaining I guess he's on the mend, yeah ?
Temp Site?, looks cool to me......... I think we need to make a few of those bikes move a little though ?
Anyway, those sounds, (I agree with Bro, buttons look good, those sounds are annoying, gave me a fright......I'd just been playing Max Payne 2 and had volume up full blast...Wow.)
You'd think it'd be easy but it aint to stop the sounds. Importing them to the libary as Richard suggested, looses all the actions not just the sounds...The button movements must be scripted, if they were just tweens Richards method would work fine. I tried it and no go, unless Richard had better luck.
This is what I'd do, if Richard agrees it would work, kinda a shot in the dark, but without the Fla's it's the only way I see it working.
We create one Nav Flash file, then call each button as a loaded movie, then from the main timeline or movie use a "Stop all sounds" action to each movie clip. Possibly "Tell Target Button3 stop all sounds" Use this action across all the buttons, I think, Hey Presto no more heart attack style sounds.
I'm happy to give it go for you Joe, if you want, no promises it'll work, and I'd like to hear what Richards thoughts are on whether or not that would work ?

I had better luck. Import to library or import or drag into library or on stage, actions stick.
DW won't edit flash files and there isn't anything like
<param name="sound" value="false"> that I could find, but there should be.
I looked, couldn't find anything in technotes, but I think there must be a way to do that somewhere.
Anyhow, using flash to edit won't take very long.
or
Using Shanes thought, create a nav.fla, drag in the button swf's, then add a stopAllSounds(); actions to first frame.
be aware, when using flash as nav , it may be a good idea to have html links somewhere also, for those with no player installed or use a flash detect script.

Err...ummm...ok.
Drag to library. (err...ummm...spend ten minutes finding library....ok....then drag to library) Check.
Err...ummm...next? :|
You'll have to excuse the rookie.... :shock:

which one are we doing? editing the buttons? or building a new navigation movie?
If editing buttons - once in library, double click , that will open the button, click on keyframe with a little "a", open action panel ( window>actions), delete sound script, or if it is truly a button symbol, look in propery panel and select "no sound"

Coolio job Richard, neat.
We were talking the libary in Flash, Joe.
I'd use Richards idea to be honest we could use those buttons too in the re-vamp. Neat stuff Richard, ^5

thanks!
what i really wanted to do was a graphic representation of a section of a exhaust from a chopper, like an elongated "s", but php is filling my mind.
also, I have to say, that what i did could have been done with out flash, just a roll over in FW , 2 frames/layers whatever they are called,.. burnt here!
::and he whispers the following::
and what he had could have been done w/o flash too. shhh :)

Woah. thanks ho. I think. completely lost.
I think you might be forgetting just how much I know about Dreamweaver, Flash, etc....which is to say, absolutely nothing.
I'm clicking around this program like Stevie Wonder here.
I've been looking for a little 'a' for twenty minutes....
I'll leave it at that, and when your through giggling, (ok, falling off your chair laughing cause it's probably something even Stevie could do), maybe you can draw one of those infamous graphs....
Wow.

what i was trying to say, FORGET the flash buttons! :lol: :) :P
make a cool button in psp, fw or whatever and make a roll over complimentary image to go with it. The only thing the flash button gave you was sound and a little fade effect and allot of trouble, besides, using flash for navigation is asking for trouble IMNHO :D
I think the flash nav bar was 8k
here is a gif button,( tweaked for RO later) just as an example, of what a gif could do, this is 2.3k

on edit - that's quite annoying isn't it? :? it would only move on RO or MO :lol:
