The images look good on preview, but when uploaded they are blurry. Should I use jpeg or gif? Is there anything in the settings to stop the pictures from being compressed?
:?
Thanks

Hmm, using Flash MX, MX2004 , or Flash 5? or swiss?
use jpg or gif, what ever looks the best at the smallest file size or use pngs for best quality.
Import your best image, let flash do the compression, default is at 80, try 90 or whatever. flash will make it a jpg. If MX or 04, do not use compress movie, if you want the best quality image. In 5, mx and 04, you can also select the image and select/ not select smoothing and losseless or not. Then set publish settings to high or best. Basically, everything depends on your imported image - so - use the best you have.
If using swiss or firestarter , no idea.

I am building the animation is Swish or is it Swiss? because that's the only way I know how to build animations, then importing it into Flash 5 and adding a layer of music, because that's the only way I know how to add music. The stage is usually 550 X 400 right? So I have to resize the image to fit the stage? Check it out/

I don't think it looks very good. I think the music is skipping too. :( Please help

the link on your "enter" is to rosemounthomes.ca and I get a 404.
I really can't help you with swish, but in flash - stage can be any size, double click it in the property inspecter. Your image can be any size, import it at the largest size you will need, make it a symbol ( f8) and resize as needed.
Upload your fla somewhere and I'll check it out.

Might be easier to just create your streaming music file in flash, and use a 'load Movie' action to load it into your Swish file.
I'm sure (of course) Richard can sort this for you but if you wanna do it this way it might help in future projects etc.
Let me know if you need more info.

Hi Shane,
I can get an mp3 in swish but it makes for a big file.
I've done the music in Flash but don't know how to bring the movie into Swish. Insert>Action>Load Movie> Then I'm stuck. Do I need to put in a URL here? How do I browse to the movie?
Thanks
Shane

Yeah, loading the mp3 straight into Swish will cause big file sizes......Make the music file in Flash, as a streaming Flash file as before.....
Then use a load movie action as you suggest but link directly to the music.swf file...this won't work when you test within the SWish player, but export the files (html/swf) from Swish place them in a folder with the music.swf and you're done.
Here's an example, .swi, .html & .swf with Swish music controls playing a streaming Flash file. Use them as you wish.

The new version of Swish, SwishMax can stream sound/soundtracks, but the above Swish2 files work just as well if you just want to stream music.

Wow, that's super cool Shane! Am I allowed to use it? I might put it on one of the pages. I like the idea of giving people a stop, play option.

No probs, it's off the last version of my site, which has been replaced now, so it's yours.

Well WS 3.0 is giving me loads of headaches. It's not creating html files along with the folders for the page I have the house thingie beside. Anyway, the movie is sort of on the back burner, until I get some new art work from these people. I think instead of an intro page, I will put the movie on the bottom frame with navigation on the top. I'd like to add music when I figure out your player. This is what I have so far..
http://www.rosemonthomes.ca Still trying to work out the navigation. Apparently the expanding menu won't overlap any html grey boxes, so I ended up moving them to the side. Not sure if I like the logo either.
This has been fun and frustrating at the same time and I'm falling behind when it comes to the tech stuff compared to you guys....flash, databases,
message boards, holy smokes I'm really humbled.

start with Dreamweaver. and from DW , learn css to avoid the browser compatability probs.
Frontpage is just another plastic saw, differant colour.

I'm with Richard. If anyone asked me what one thing would improve their website building whole process it would be "Buy Dreamweaver".
