Hi Ken,
What is the file extension? .jpg, .dll, .bat etc.??
Have you recently installed anything new?
Any new upgrades? Does windose automatically ck for updates? using xp?
What is the date on the file?
It may be a "back up" of your desktop configuration. Don't delete it.
Can tell you more with the above info.
Richard
Hi Richard,
Theres no file extension showing, I think it may have happened when I was trying out a new file encryption programme, as this showed hidden files in the 'My Documents' folder where I kept the files to encrypt, and I may have included this one in with them by mistake, the file in question has a modified date of the time this happened, hope this makes sense,

Hi Ken,
If all else fails, since you have XP, you can go into use System Restore to restore your system to the way it was just prior to when you had this file show up. That's if you can recall when it showed it.
Go to Start:All Programs:Accessories:System Tools:System Restore
It works on the same principle as Roxio Go-Back and some of the other restore programs that restores your computer to how it was at a specific date and time prior to when the problem occurred.
Just an option. Good Luck! :o
Hi Karen,
Ive used system restore previously, but for some reason seemed to affect some of my folders, so I reverted back...what Ive done is to create a new folder in Documents and Settings, and just popped the file in there, as everything is running fine, dont want to mess any further....seems o/k
