Hi mate !!

Been away myself ( Amsterdam again....but work...well...mainly... :D ) but mainly just busy working... that font thingy looks cool, neat link. I've been using fontlist for ages and probably daily... http://www.bitstorm.org/fontlist/ .. your link looks like it can do more tho'...

These progs are invaluable as you can type in the actual text you are using and see how it looks in each font.

How's things with you ? Busy ?

Amsterdam again whaaa Hoo! Lucky dude you! Glad you're back! Handling the forum with out you has been tuff.

Would you believe, I'm just now finishing the voice site! Won't allow any graphic changes! My world! Has a client input form and a talent upload form, so that was kinda fun to do. LAMP ampphp next. Just got ( 10 minutes ago) a 99% go ahead on the Kart site! F1's are next!! Which reminds me - I need to control a video camera remotely, like wheel cams, helmut cam, rear wing cam etc, from the drivers seat, steering wheel. Keep an eye out!

Or thinking, remote from the pit would be cool too!

Back to drawing karts!

Guys, Why?? :( I can't help it, but it feels like 'blows' to me and my designs.

Absolutely not, and not intended to come off that way. Your designs are incredible, and by far some of the best I've seen. My comments aren't geared towards the end user.

You didn't design the program, you didn't release "upgrades" TWICE before they were even close to being ready for release, you didn't cause major crashes on my computer system, and you didn't treat me (and others) like a red-headed step child for calling them on it.

It's much deeper than that, and definitley not something I'd like to re-hash here out of respect for Fred and Helen.

Apologizes Dawn, no offence intended.

You know I love your stuff.

Sorry I brought it up.

Dawn , absolutely nothing against you or your site designs.

Nothing against our friends who worked on ws.

Nothing against anyone who has the time to work with ws.

ws has it's place.

As it seems to replace power point, maybe I'll look into it.

Shane - I didn't realize Amsterdam was so close. Yeah, let's do Amsterdam!
Want to track down a deadbeat client for me there? 50/50 split. PM coming at cha. 3d huh? I'm learning 3d in turbo cad, but tempted to try maya or 3ds max plasma, but big $. You get what you pay for tho. btw, Above whitespace is for you and Joe.

As Joe said, his comments were not aimed at WS USERS. Rest assured Spoonie, you and the many WS users have created SUPER sites. There is no disputing that fact. YOU make the product successful. Your designs show that a program can have flaws and the user can still create a masterpiece.
:toast:

All of us long-timers understand Joe's comment and the reasons for his feelings. Many here, and on the WS Forum, share his feelings and many do not. Like Joe said, there is no need to rehash history or start another Hatfield/McCoys conflict.

Ultimately, each consumer has to decide whether he/she wants to buy a product, accept or reject the way it is marketed and accept or reject the way complaints/concerns are handled by the manufacturer. The best thing that WS has going for it and the thing that made it successful over the years is the WS Forum - users helping users and the friendships that it created. I don't think anyone, including the manufacturer, would dispute that opinion.

This is like politics. Some people accept the way one party does things and others do not. Opinions are rarely changed.

Nuff said.

I want to relay something that is currently happening at work that could be related here.

We are using Windows NT with Novell Client. The mail program is Groupwise. I'm bias on the subject because I prefer MS Outlook. Be that as it may - I have to admit that we had no problems in the last year. Company-wide it handled over 100,000 emails in the month of January. Over 42,000 emails were filtered out as Spam. The program is not perfect. I cannot receive my webmaster mail and mail from Helen. Don't know why. According to our computer department, there are no filters in place blocking the IP.

Two weeks ago our Groupwise was upgraded to "Version 6.5". The result - disaster!!

Email locks up.
Program disappears when attempting to send attachments.
Can't find address book.
When replying to an email, it comes back as undeliverable - address unknown.
Computers crash.

It was installed by an outside tech company on the 25 computers in our local office. On my computer, it was reinstalled from scratch 6 times. Of the 25 computers, mine is the only one currently working with no problem - knock on wood.

What does this tell you? "Groupwise 6.5" is loaded with bugs and a piece of junk! But wait a minute - story ain't over.

At our corporate office in Nashville, the same version is installed and working without problems on 585 computers. The same program is working on millions of other computers world wide.

Deduction -

That means the problem is with our computers. According to Sherlock Holmes 101, somptin must not be configured right somewhere on our puters and that is causing a conflict in programs. I do not know if the problem is the fault of Groupwise or with the other programs. I do know all was working fine till the upgrade.

This is good news and bad news. The bad news is we are stuck with the problem.

The good news is they decided to get rid of NT (brilliant idea since it ain't being supported) and Novell and go with Windows XP, Microsoft Client and MS Outlook. They have started the migration in our corporate office.

What is puzzling to me is why pay an outside tech $2800 to install the upgrade when you are discontinuing the program. Guess that is why I will always remain a peon.

WS v3 and v4 probably worked great in controlled conditions. I believe problems arose when it was mixed with other programs that are used by a lot of people. Some people had no problems and other had bunches. Rightly or wrongly, the finger always points to the newly installed program. How the complaints are handled determines whether the customer stays or goes.

Amen
