by the way someone mentioned Kazaa for music, try KaZaa lite instead, no spy ware, no pop ups, much easier to use and faster.

Definately go for Kazza lite..good advice...don't use it myself but hear nothing but good about it. I installed it on a nephews 'puter and it works well. Very well.
Scan anything you download though, before installing, from what I see people misunderstand what Kazza is.......
Checking out Media beta, cheers Richard
Strange that you mentioned that. I dowloaded Kazaa earlier today. I did not install any of the add-ons. It seems to be OK. I never heard of it till a friend from work mentioned that was where he DLed all his music.

Make sure you got Kazza lite Fred....some of the add-ons in the official Kazzaa release come with no options.
Kazza lite, ironically (considering what Kazza is mainly used for) is a hack of Kazza, but freely available. A quick search on Google will find many download sites.
Shane - I followed your advice and uninstalled KaZaa and installed Kazaa Lite. It works like a charm with less clutter and no spyware  . For those who want to do the same, you must delete the old version first. To be safe I also rebooted before I downloaded. Make sure you don't have any Windows programs running when you install (ok to have AV on when you download the program) make sure you disable when you install the program and remember to enable your AV after installation.

Hi all,
Geez, i'm still running windows media 6.4 :?:
As far as Kazaa goes, it can be a bit confusing between the two.

Hey Richard,
Thanks for the "up" on the MediaPlayer. Downloaded it. I like it better than the other verison 8.4 that I had, but after installation, I lost that little preference pop-up thingie that comes up when you put a CD/DVD in the Rom drive asking what player you want to use.
I have 3 DVD players (media player and another came with the notebook) and another special player loaded with a DVD that I bought. Also I have two CD players (media player and Sonic Stage)
If I choose any from the programs list, they're fine and all works well, just won't activate that automatic pop-up when a DVD/CD is installed in the ROM drive. Hmmm.

I didn't mean to be a wise guy. It has something to do with preferences of the dvd player or drive, but then again, it could be a zillion things. sorry, no help here.

Yeah, I think you right...when I downloaded the 9 player, it asked if I wanted it to be the "default" player and I said yes. Maybe that negates the choice thingie. But, that's OK ... it's the one I always choose off the list anyway. :)
I didn't think you were being a wiseguy ... just your usual, fun-loving self!
I just upgraded my windows media player from Windows Update, i went from 6.4 to 7.1 - afraid of betas.
Has anyone with W2000 have SP3, if so, i'd like to see a new topic on this. I haven't yet. Also i haven't got the new Explorer update of 6.1 , still have 6.0
Hey, , how about a topic heading for Computer Upgrades or something similar to that. Messages there would be for discussion on user expierences on things like Service Packs, media players, browser updates, and such.
Here's link to Microsoft Security if anyone needs http://www.microsoft.com/security/
